A bit about the Role

This position is not your average chef role! We want someone who believes in designing nourishing and unique menus, is excited at the opportunity to pass their skills and knowledge onto the future generation and has the skills to help create a unique and socially conscious experience behind every purchase at The Little Social. 

You will be playing a critical role in helping us build an impactful social enterprise business whilst mentoring and providing hands-on training for at-risk young people to set them on a path to sustainable employment beyond The Little Social.


We are in the final stages of signing the lease for our newest location – in the heart of St Kilda (more info coming soon!)



A bit about you

You will be a creative chef that can not only lead the design and creation of our inaugural menu inspired by seasonal and locally sourced product, but will also bring a unique style and flare to our social enterprise café.

Your talent, expertise and passion for high-quality food will emanate through every product. The role will bring high energy and motivation, allowing you to work autonomously  and take the lead on our food offerings.

Most importantly, you share our values and culture, and bring authenticity and positivity.


Key requirements for this role

🥒You’re a people person

🍅Experience with high quality menu design skills

🍌Passion for social change and an enthusiasm for mentoring disadvantaged young people to help their success!

🥔Enthusiasm for new trends and innovative ideas

🥕The ability to balance a variety of operational tasks in a fast-paced environment


Must Have’s

  • Proven experience as a chef or cook (ideally 2+ years)


 

A little bit about us, The Little Social 

The Little Social is a bespoke coffee bar that brews the finest espresso and empowers young people to lead meaningful lives by providing hands-on skills development and mentoring from industry experts. Each young person has a platform at The Little Social to build self-confidence, gain key employability skills and genuine work experience in a supportive and judgement free environment. Our cafes harness community goodwill towards social and economic sustainability and ethical business and invests profits into innovate and grow within a social justice framework - reaffirming our vision of young people being good-to-go into a competitive job market.  

 

The Little Social is powered by Youth Projects - an independent, registered charity who provides front line support to individuals and young people experiencing disadvantage, homelessness, unemployment, alcohol and other drug issues through a range of holistic and wrap around support services. Youth Projects is on a mission to provide high impact support, without judgement, full stop.
